Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Android Oreo Update Via MIUI v9.6.5.5.0
The Redmi Note 5 users in India are now on MIUI 9.5 built on top of Android 7.1 Nougat. The device would start receiving  Android 8.1 Oreo update via MIUI v9.6.5.5.0 in the next 2-3 days.

According to Telecom talk, Xiaomi also noted that camera algorithms have been updated and the Redmi Note 5 will now be able to capture better images than earlier. Image quality has been further optimised, stated Xiaomi in the MIUI blog post.

MIUI v9.6.5.5.0 is a Phased Rollout
The report further said that whenever Xiaomi rolls out a new update, it comes out in batches, so that if the OTA update has any bugs, the damage will be minimal. For example, Xiaomi gets to know about these bugs in the first batch of the rollout, then it will immediately stop the update and fix those bugs, then restarts the update rollout. Xiaomi follows the same procedure even for its Android One devices: Mi A1 and Mi A2.
