Xiaomi on Thursday launched the Mi Max 2 smartphone. One of the most awaited smartphones for the year the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 was launched in China for CNY 1,699 (around Rs 16,000). The smartphone is expected to soon be launched in India and its pricing would be in the similar price range.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has two variants ie 4GB RAM with 64 GB internal memory variant priced at RMB 1,699 (Rs 16,000) and the 4GB RAM with 128 GB internal memory variant costing RMB 1,999 (around Rs 19,000).

The price of the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 puts in direct competition with smartphones like the Moto G5 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi Pro, Huawei Honor 8 Lite and ZTE Blade V8 Pro. While the Moto G5 Plus and Xiaomi Redmi Pro are priced at Rs 14,999, the Huawei Honor 8 Lite is for Rs 15,690 and the ZTE Blade V8 Pro costs Rs 15,999.

In terms of specifications the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 comes with a massive battery of 5300mAh. In terms of the processor it has the Snapdragon 625 SoC model. It has a full metal unibody.

In terms of the display it comes with a 6.44 inch full HD display ultra thin bezels. It has QC 3.0 with parallel charging capabilities and stereo speakers.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 comes with a 12 megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX386 sensor. It has a Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF) support and enhanced quality for low lighting. In the front it sports a 5 megapixel camera.

Moto G5 Plus:
The Moto G5 Plus comes in two variants. While the 3GB RAM with 16GB internal memory will be offered for Rs 14,999, the 4GB RAM with 32GB internal memory will be offered for Rs 16,999.

The Moto G5 Plus has the same Snapdragon 625 processor as the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. However, the battery is much lower at 3000mAh capacity.

In terms of its display it has 5.2 inch HD display. The cameras include a 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera. This is similar to the cameras available in the Mi Max 2.

The smartphone will come with a metal body design. Both offer extendable memory options via microSD card up to 128GB.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro:

Another smartphone from the Xiaomi brand range is in the similar price range, but what about the specifications?

It has a Deca Core 2.5 GHz processor and 3GB RAM, which is a little lower than the Xiaomi Mi Max 2. However, it comes with a 64GB RAM, the same as the new smartphone.

The Xiaomi Redmi Pro's battery is no way comparable to the Mi Max 2. It has a 4050mAh battery.

It has a smaller 5.5 inch full HD display and comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

In terms of the camera it has a similar 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera.

Huawei Honor 8 Lite:
The Huawei Honor 8 Lite has a 2.1 GHz processor. It has a 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage, the same as the Mi Max 2.

However, the battery still is much lower than the Mi Max 2 with only 3000mAh capacity. The display of the Honor 8 Lite too is smaller at only 5.2 inches.

It has similar cameras as the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 with 12 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera.

It is supported by expandable memory card upto 12 megapixel.

ZTE Blade V8 Pro:

The ZTE Blade V8 Pro comes with a Octa Core 2GHz processor. It has a lower 3GB RAM and lower 32GB internal memory.

In terms of the battery capacity it is much lower at 3140 mAh battery. It has a smaller 5.5 inch display.

In terms of the camera specifications, it is a bit superior than the Xiaomi Mi Max. It has a 13 megapixel rear camera and 8 megapixel front camera.

Over the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is better than all the other smartphones in its segment in terms of the huge battery capacity. In is also much superior in terms of its RAM and internal storage capacity. However, camera in competitor phones are a bit better.
