Xiaomi has launched affordable true wireless earbuds in India. Called the Redmi Earbuds S, the pair is priced at Rs 1,799 and makes the segment accessible to budget buyers. Surprisingly, it is company’s first truly wireless earbuds under the Redmi sub-brand.  The company had recently launched Mi True wireless earphones 2 under its other subbrand. The earphones are currently available in a single colour option of black, and features Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity.

The Redmi Earbuds S price in India has been set at Rs 1,799. The buds were launched in China in April, priced at CNY 100. The Redmi Earbuds S go on sale for the first time on May 27, i.e. tomorrow, at 12pm (noon), and will be available to buy via Amazon India, Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Mi Studio outlets.

The Redmi Earbuds S come with 7.2mm drivers and are IPX4-rated for water resistance. They are claimed to lightest true wireless earphones at 4.1 grams each. The earbuds support SBC codec and have a low latency mode for gaming. The earphones have a claimed battery life of four hours per charge with an additional battery of 12 hours in the charging case. 

The low latency mode claims to offer smoother transmission of sound from the smartphone to the earphones with reduced delay, while gaming. There is support for voice assistants, environmental noise reduction through the Realtek RTL8763BFR Bluetooth chip, and the ability to use either earphone individually without separately pairing each earphone of the Redmi Earbuds S.

The earbuds will compete against recently launched Realme Buds Air Neo. The latter, however, is priced at Rs 2,999.
