Wings Lifestyle - a homegrown audio, smartwatch and TWS brand - is planning to launch a new smartwatch range. According to the company's Co-Founder Vijay Venkateswaran, the smartwatch will come with cutting-edge features and will be a blend of technology and fashion. The company has also expanded its Upbeat series with lifestyle-led speakers. Here are the edited experts of the interview.

1. What kind of growth do you foresee in the audio, smartwatch & TWS segment going forward?

The audio, smartwatch, and TWS segments are witnessing remarkable growth. While the audio category has gracefully matured, the smartwatch and TWS categories are on a jaw-dropping exponential rise. The Indian consumer is eagerly embracing affordable, feature-packed smartwatches, and this demand is set to skyrocket in the coming years.

At Wings, our constant endeavour is to capture the spirit of the youth and millennials by crafting products that blend seamlessly with the latest trends and pop culture. We are proud of the fact that we have been able to offer the customers what they want, as is evident in the immense popularity of our merchandise among the younger population.

2. There are several homegrown brands in these segments now. Where are you positioned among them?

Among the plethora of homegrown brands in the audio, smartwatch, and TWS segments, Wings stands tall as a vibrant and consumer-centric tech brand. We take pride in crafting products that resonate with the Indian youth, gen-z, and millennials residing in every corner of tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3 India. Our distinguishing feature is that we offer stylish, feature-rich and affordable products. In other words, we have a zero-compromise policy when it comes to our offerings. 

3. Please tell us about some major upcoming launches.

We are very excited about our upcoming launches. Our new smartwatch range is set to redefine convenience and functionality for our customers. Packed with cutting-edge features, these smartwatches are a perfect blend of technology and fashion. We've expanded our Upbeat series with lifestyle-led speakers. Our Thunderbar series soundbars will also help create a truly immersive entertainment setup.

4. What are the challenges for this sector, and are there any government initiatives/policies to support it in India?

We can proudly say that we are one of the few brands in the audio and smartwatches segment which has taken up the challenge of rethinking production strategies.  While we encounter operational hurdles, we've overcome them swiftly. With the government's unwavering support through the "Make in India" vision, we are very optimistic about the future. 

5. There are a lot of homegrown companies that are providing feature-loaded smartwatches at very affordable rates. But none of them is accurate or precise - be it step count, sleep time or anything else. What is the reason behind and do you think it will dent the image of Indian brands in the long run? 

At Wings, we prioritise precision and accuracy. Our smartwatches are designed to deliver accurate step counts and sleep tracking. While we cannot comment on other brands, our focus remains on providing top-notch performance and reliability to our users. We are committed to setting new standards and reinforcing the image of Indian brands as leaders in the industry.

6. How do your products rank when it comes to accuracy? What are the measures you take to make sure that users get accurate step counts and other details?

We leave no stone unturned to ensure that we are spot on when it comes to measurements—our secret lies in using the latest advanced chipsets backed up by rigorous quality checks. From the beginning, we have definitive control at the raw material input stage to ensure top-notch precision. Furthermore, we develop software apps in-house, so there is no reliance on third parties. As a result, we can guarantee accuracy at the output stage too.
