It seems 2019 will be a busy year for people working at WhatsApp as well as for the users. The instant messaging platform is reportedly working on a number of features and is set to introduce them soon. One feature that has already been confirmed by WhatsApp is the new "Forwarding Info" feature, which will inform users about the number of times a message has been forwarded. It will also display a "frequently forwarded" label. The feature is yet to be rolled out for public use but has already made its way to the beta version of the app.

The beta version is now reportedly showing the number of times a message has been forwarded. A previous beta had the above-mentioned feature disabled by default specifically version 2.19.87. The new beta update seems to have enabled the message forward info feature. However, this would only appear if you are the sender of a message that has been forwarded to multiple users.

In case you have received a forwarded message that was sent to multiple users, you cannot check the number of times it has been forwarded. To check the number of times a message has been forwarded, you will have to long-press that text and click on the information option.

However, the ‘frequently forwarded' tag which was spotted for messages that have been forwarded more than four times has not been enabled in the latest beta build.

Apart from this, WhatsApp updates tracker WABetaInfo has also reported that the Facebook-owned messaging app is set to roll out the 'dark mode' soon. It said that the dark mode was also spotted in the last beta update. The mode is awaited for a long time and could be rolled out for commercial use soon.

In a separate development, a few WhatsApp users have reported that their name was being displayed as the admin of a group in the beta app for iOS version 2.19.40.23, even as they weren't the administrators of the group. It seems that this is just a visual bug and doesn't give users the admin rights to the specific group.
