WhatsApp trick: Are you fed up of picking your phone every time to make a call? Well, there is a way through which you can solve this problem. While most smartphone users would know how to make normal calls using Google voice assistant, only a few know that the tech giant offers a similar feature for WhatsApp as well. Google had recently announced that Assistant would be able to make video and audio calls with WhatsApp too.

This means that you are not required to pick up your smartphone for making calls.  The voice calls commenced by Assistant were earlier used to place a network call for the user. While video calls could be set up via Hangouts or Duo only.

How to make WhatsApp audio and video calls without using smartphone 

- Set up the Google Assistant on your smartphone by feeding in your voice. 

- If you already have the Google Assistant set up, you may directly invoke it by saying OK Google or Hey Google.

- You can also wake up the assistant app using the dedicated key, if available or by long-pressing the Home button on your device.

- Then, you need to make call by giving either of these commands - "Make a WhatsApp call to [contact-name]" or "Call [contact-name] on WhatsApp and for video call just say "Make a WhatsApp video call to [contact-name]".

- To make things go faster, one should add a nickname to the most frequently called contacts.

Meanwhile, the platform wasn’t working for several users last night. Some WhatsApp users thronged Twitter to report the issue they were facing with the messaging app. They said that they were facing difficulty in sending and receiving messages on the app for almost an hour. The app, however, is back in action.

“Earlier today, an internal update made to our WhatsApp servers caused some people to have trouble sending messages.We quickly resolved this issue for everyone and we apologize for any inconvenience,” WhatsApp told the Verge in a statement.
