The recently initiated WhatsApp Stickers feature for Android and iOS is facing a backlash from Apple for alleged violation of guidelines. A tweet on WABetaInfo, which is known for showing accurate information on upcoming features of WhatsApp, stated that Apple has been deleting all WhatsApp Stickers apps from App Store for violating norms. Reportedly, so many new apps were launched that allowed users to make their own stickers, but require WhatsApp installation.

The WABetaInfo tweet said that Apple has cited three reasons including 1-There are too many apps with similar behavior, 2- It requires WA to be installed. Apps should not require another app, 3-The design of these apps are the same.

Notably, WhatsApp Stickers for Android and iOS were launched late last month, and since then these stickers have become very popular on the messaging App in India -this was especially so during the festival of Diwali.

Following this development, many apps have come to allow the users to create their own stickers as well as apps for sticker packs in regional languages also. This led to popping up of more related apps on App Store, therefore, Apple is deleting such apps. However, the US technology firm is yet to issue any official statement in this regard.

Earlier, WhatsApp has also added support for third-party sticker packs also. This has allowed developers from across the world to create stickers for the messaging app. Interestingly, sticker packs on WhatsApp also work offline like Facebook Messenger.

Notably, interested users require an active Internet connection while downloading these sticker packs. Once downloaded, these stickers from the pack can be used offline also.

WhatsApp Stickers was launched with 12 sticker packs, wherein, users have the option to mark their favourite ones.

There are reports that WhatsApp is working on a new feature that is all about search for stickers feature for Android. This will reportedly make it easier to search for specific stickers from sticker store.
