Facebook-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has updated its Android beta app to version 2.19.83. The updated version features a new Authentication feature. WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo has shared screenshots of the Authentication feature and how it can be enabled in Settings, and how the interface will look like.
According to Gadget 360, this feature is disabled by default, so it won't work for beta users as of now. WhatsApp has not yet declared the plans to roll out this feature for the stable version users.

In the new Authentication feature, WhatsApp users can lock their account and unlock it using a fingerprint sensor. You can get this feature enabled in Settings >Account >Privacy > Use Fingerprint to Unlock. Once this feature is enabled, WhatsApp will register your fingerprint.

Options will be given so that the app can be locked immediately (after you leave the app)/ after 1 minute/ after 10 minutes/ or after 30 minutes.

WhatsApp will show a sign indicating users that they can now unlock the app using the fingerprint authentication. As mentioned, this feature is not enabled yet, so you won't see it even if you are on the latest beta version 2.19.83. Probably, this feature should roll out for beta users in its next updates.
