WhatsApp Group Voice and Video calling feature is now available for all users. This is what the company said in a blog post. Earlier, the feature was made available to beta test users on Android and iOS. With this update the users will now be able to make the Group Voice calls and Group Video calls. WhatsApp users spend over 2 billion minutes on calls per day, the Facebook-owned company said. Users will be able to video call with up to four people with the updated app via Google Play and App Store, respectively, according to BGR report.

The users can start a one-on-one voice or video call and then add participants. For that the user has to tap the new “add participant” button to add more people to the call. WhatsApp assures its users that these group calls are secure and ‘end-to-end encrypted’. It said the app is designed in a way that it will work around the world in different network conditions. WhatsApp launched voice calling and video calling in 2014 and 2016, respectively. It has more than 1.5 billion monthly active users on its platform, the company said.

The feature comes ahead of iOS 12 release which will support group video calling feature. FaceTime group video calling by Apple will support up to 32 users. This feature will surely help engage users with the app. WhatsApp in recent times was in the news after some mob lynching in Madhya Pradesh and Mahashtra. These incidents reportedly took place after rumours spread through WhatsApp.
