Xiaomi is all set to launch the Redmi 4A in India today. The smartphone will go on sale on the company's website Mi.com and Amazon India and is priced at Rs 5,999.

The affordable smartphone is 4G enabled and has a high battery capacity. This budget smartphones from Xiaomi and will go up against the Redmi 3S, Samsung Galaxy On5, Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus and Lyf Water 10. These smartphones are all in the same price bracket.

The Redmi 4A is a 4G VoLTE smartphone and comes with a 3120 mAh battery capacity and has 5 inch HD display with 16GB internal memory expandable up to 128GB. It also comes with a 2GB RAM and 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor, a 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow along with MIUI 8 operating system.

Redmi 4A has dual SIM slot which supports two SIM cards to send and receive messages from two different phone numbers.

It also features a polycarbonate (plastic) unibody design and will be available in three colours, Gold, Rose Gold and Dark Grey.

Redmi 3S:

Xiaomi has another affordable smartphone the Redmi 3S which comes with an all metal body and priced at Rs 6,999 and hence people are bound to make a comparison between these two phones despite the Redmi 4A being a successor.

For starters the Redmi 3S has a bigger battery in comparison to the Redmi 4A and has a metal unibody. The battery of the Redmi 3S is 4100 mAh, it has the same 5 inch HD display and many of the other specifications such as the RAM, internal storage and expandable microSD card storage are all the same in both these phones.

However, the Redmi 3S has a higher 1.1GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 crore, while the Redmi 4A has a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor,

Samsung Galaxy On5:

The Samsung Galaxy On5 comes at a higher price tag of Rs 7,490 and has the same 5 inch display. But it has has a lower 1.5 GB RAM and lower 8GB internal memory. It however has the same 128GB expandable memory via microSD card option.

The Samsung Galaxy On5's processor is also higher to the Redmi 4A as it comes with a 1.3GHz quad-core Samsung Exynos 3475 processor. The battery capacity is much lower in comparison at 2500 mAh. The rear camera of the Samsung phone is lower with a 8 megapixel camera. It has a 5 megapixel front camera.

Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus:

The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus is priced at Rs 7,000 and also had the same 5 inch full-HD screen. It is powered by the 1.2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 616 processor. It has the same 2GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. It however has only a 32 GB expandable memory via microSD. Even the camera capabilities are the same with a 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera.

It however comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system and has a lower battery capacity at 2750 mAh.

Lyf Water 10:

The smartphone by Reliance Digital's Lyf brand is priced closer to the Redmi 4A priced at Rs 6,045 on Amazon and Rs 5,808 on Tata CliQ. While all the other smartphones and the Redmi 4A come with a 2GB RAM, the Lyf Water 10 comes with a higher 3GB RAM. It too has a 5 inch HD display and comes with a higher 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 processor.

It has a similar 16GB internal memory and can be expandable up to 64GB via microSD card. It also has a similar 13 megapixel rear camera and 5 megapixel front camera. The battery is lower at 2300 mAh and has a lower Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system.

At the Rs 5,000 to Rs 8,000 range price does make a difference and the Redmi 4A is cheaper in comparison to all these options. However, while some of its specifications are a little superior to other companies smartphones, it too has some few short comings in comparison.
