On Thursday, May 12, Instagram launched a refreshed logo which is inspired by the previous one, according to the photo sharing platform. It represents a simpler camera but the iconic rainbow lives on in a gradient form, Instagram said in a Facebook post. This is the first time since its launch that Instagram has made changes to its logo.

In a video, Instagram has shown how it came up with the new logo. Apart from this, there are changes inside the app too -- the photo-sharing platform says that the design has been made simpler and puts more focus on photos and videos without changing how you navigate through the app.

Instagram has evolved from a place to share filtered photos to so much more, the company said. The rainbow-themed icons represent Instagram’s diverse community, which it says brings all sorts of life and colour to the platform.
