Bytedance, the makers of TikTok have launched a new social music streaming app Resso in India. Hailed as the world's first social music streaming app, Resso is designed for a new generation of music enthusiasts and allows users to share content with each other. The app has a feature that allows you to share lyrics and express through user generated content.

The app has a vibes feature which allows users to uniquely express themselves by creating videos, gifs or pictures based on a song that they can share, along with lyrics. You can also comment on music and connect with other users with similar music taste.

The Lyric Quotes feature enable users to select and share their favourite lyrics and express their state of mind.

"Resso is designed to revolutionize how users consume music by filling the longstanding gap between music streaming and interacting with other listeners. With the launch of Resso in India, our objective is to empower users to express themselves and connect with like-minded individuals through music," Hari Nair, Head of Music Content and Partnership, Resso India said.

"Gen Z and millennials are at the core of our offering and both music and social networking are central to their daily lives.  Our goal is to encourage them as well as everyday music listeners to express themselves in an interactive and engaging way. The relationship between music and the listener is currently passive, with Vibes, Comments and other features, Resso aims to transform this through a new and compelling music streaming experience," he said.

The app's library is divided by genres and sub-genres. For example, genres are divided into alternative, experimental, fusion, post rock, indie rock while sub-genres have further been segregated into niches like - popgaze, bow pop, indie psych pop and ambient to name a few.

Resso users can download the basic app for free. The extended features such as downloadable content, unlimited skips and high-quality audio, users can upgrade to a monthly premium subscription at Rs 99 for Android and Rs 119 for iOS.
