Tecno is set to launch two new smartphones in India with segment-first camera features. The new smartphone will come as part of the company's camera-centric CAMON series and will be positioned in the sub-Rs 15,000 category - a segment dominated by Xiaomi, Realme and Vivo in the Indian market. At least of these smartphones is expected to be launched in mid-February 2020, Zee Business Online has learnt.

With the new line-up of devices, Tecno is expected to shake up the existing photographic experience in the sub-Rs 15,000 smartphone category with segment-first camera features. The new smartphone is expected to come with an AI Quad rear camera. This will also be the first smartphone from Tecno to come with 48MP primary camera and will follow the company's philosophy of introducing premium features at affordable price-points.

"The new CAMON smartphone may be equipped with 48MP main camera at aggressive price-point," a source told Zee Business. Apart from the 48-megapixel camera, the new smartphone will also come with Ultra Night Lens, giving mid-range smartphone users better night photography.

As per Counterpoint 2019 report, Tecno showcased YoY growth in Rs 6,000-Rs 10,000 segment by bringing premium features such as 6000 mAh battery, bigger screen and dot-in display at lower price points. The brand now wants to consolidate its position among Top 5 offline smartphone brands of India with a strong portfolio across Rs 5,000 to Rs 15,000 category by providing customers with a wide range of options across price points.

The new Camon smartphone may come with enhanced AI capabilities such as AI body shaping and customized beauty effects like slim face or enlarge eyes.
