Spotify, the renowned music streaming platform, is currently testing a cutting-edge feature that leverages artificial intelligence and user prompts for playlist creation. The experimental "AI playlists" feature, recently discovered by some users, has been confirmed by the platform to TechCrunch. Although Spotify acknowledged the trial, specific details about the underlying AI technology remain undisclosed.

A Spotify spokesperson stated in the report, "We routinely conduct a number of tests. Some of those tests end up paving the path for our broader experience, and others serve only as an important learning." The spokesperson added, "We don't have anything further to share at this time."

Described as "Turn your ideas into playlists using AI," the feature is currently available only in English. Upon selecting the option, users are directed to a screen where they can input prompts into an AI chatbot-style box or explore a list of suggested prompts to kickstart the playlist creation process. Once a prompt is chosen, the AI chatbot responds with "Processing your request..." and presents a sample playlist.

In unrelated news, Spotify recently announced a workforce reduction of approximately 17%, marking its third round of layoffs this year. The company aims to enhance productivity and efficiency. In June, 200 employees (2% of the workforce) were laid off from the podcast division, and in January, about 600 staffers (6% of the workforce) faced job cuts. As part of this restructuring, Spotify's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Paul Vogel, is also departing from the company.
