The consumer survey from CyberMedia Research (CMR) also found that there are three brands which are on the top of the preference list of smartphone buyers. Among the top three are MediaTek, Qualcomm and Apple with each receiving a ranking score of 58 out of 100.

"The primary reason for users' preference towards these brands is their reputation for delivering enhanced overall device performance, as well as gaming and imaging experience," the report said.

According to Surachita Deb Sharma, Analyst-Industry Consulting Group (ICG), CyberMedia Research (CMR), there is a growing recognition among consumers that the smartphone chipset is crucial in driving these experiences.

MediaTek captured a significant 48 per cent share of the smartphone market in the first quarter of 2023. This can be attributed to the increase in consumer awareness and interest.
