Samsung Galaxy A51 has emerged as world’s best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2020, according to research firm Strategy Analytics. The company is claimed to have shipped more than 60 lakh units of the smartphone. The top six smartphones sold in this period included four of Samsung smartphones while the other two spots were grabbed by Xiaomi devices. In fact, Redmi 8 was the second most sold smartphone during this period.

According to the report, Samsung Galaxy A51 captured 2.3 percent share of the overall smartphone market followed by Redmi 8 with 1.9 percent of the market share. The third spot was grabbed by Samsung Galaxy S20+ with 1.7 percent share. On fourth and fifth positions were Samsung Galaxy A10s and Redmi Note 8 with 1.6 percent market share each.

The report adds that value for money smartphones will be in demand post COVID-19 lockdown with buyers becoming more price sensitive. 

“As mobile operators have reduced subsidies in recent years, and many countries are now tumbling into post-virus recession, smartphone consumers globally are becoming increasingly price-sensitive and they are seeking out new Android models that deliver the biggest bang for their buck, said Juha Winter, Associate Director at Strategy Analytics in a statement.

Samsung Galaxy A51 features

The smartphone is equipped with a 6.5-inch Infinity-O Super AMOLED display and is powered by Exynos 9611 chipset. Its quad cam setup includes 48 MP main camera, 12 MP Ultra-Wide lens with Night Mode capability, 5MP Macro lens and 5MP deth sensor. On the front, you get a 32-megapixel selfie shooter. The smartphone brings falgship series' AR Doodle to the 'A' series.

The smartphone packs a 4000mAh battery with 15W fast charging. The company claims that the phone will last for up to 19 hours of video play back time.
