Priced at Rs 2,299, the newly launched Realme Buds Wireless 2 neckband comes with a unique laser bead design and supports the active noise cancellation (ANC) feature. The neckband is available in two colors -- 'bass yellow' and 'bass grey' -- and is equipped with customised R2 high-performance noise cancellation chip, which promises a good noise cancellation effect while consuming low power. I used the bass grey color for more than one week and here are my views about this newly launched neckband earphone with the ANC feature.

The major highlights of the Realme Buds Wireless 2 are that it comes with active noise cancellation (ANC) feature and offers 22 hours of total battery life. The newly launched neckband earphones from Realme are IPX5 certified dust and water-resistant as well.

"With active noise cancellation of up to 25dB, the Realme Buds Wireless 2 monitors external noise through a feed-forward microphone, allowing the earphones to send out a reverse anti-noise sound to cancel it out. This device can filter out most low-frequency noise, including the rumble of airplanes, the subway and other transportation tools. It also cancels out the noise of home appliances so that you can listen music or work without being disturbed,"  the company said.

With features like SonyLDAC Hi-Res Audio, Game mode, Active Noise Cancellation, Transparency and General Modes, the Realme Buds Wireless 2 can be the most affordable yet powerful wireless neckband in the country. The buds offer a comfortable feeling around your neck. In terms of design, the device has ticked the right boxes.

The Buds Wireless 2 weighs just 29 grams, lighter than the previous model while maintaining nearly the same size made the earphones very light. We did not feel any discomfort even after using those for long hours and even during my workout sessions.

The device’s lightweight, curved neckband and skin-safe liquid silicone materials ensure it is comfortable to wear throughout the day. The earphones come with three different sizes of silicone tips (S/M/L).  The neckband is pretty strong and flexible with control keys.

It is plain from the right side and features the control buttons on the left. These include – volume controls, a multi-function button, a noise cancellation button, and an LED light. On the right edge, next to the buttons, there is also a Type-C USB charging port. It can be connected to the Realme Link app and users can quickly switch between active noise cancellation, transparency and normal modes. The device is very compatible to use with Android smartphones. We didn't face any issue while pairing it with Apple MacBook Air as well.

Once we activated the ANC mode, the listening experience was great without any disturbance. While using it in the GYM with ANC mode on and listening to the songs on YouTube and Spotify for long hours, it worked perfectly fine. As far as the noise cancellation is concerned, the device effectively blocked the unwanted ambient sound. We did not face any issues with voice quality while making and receiving calls. Buds Wireless 2 also comes Hi-Res certified and also supports 990kpbs Sony LDAC technology.

In addition, you will find two modes to Bass Boost + in the Realme Link App – dynamic and bright. Dynamic balances bass, treble, and mid sounds, while bright enhances the human voice. I personally liked these two modes as it gives you more option to enjoy the audio experience.

While playing games and streaming videos, the neckband performs wonderfully without any discomfort. Also, the device utilizes the company's custom R2 noise cancellation chip with a maximum noise reduction of 25dB. Buds Wireless 2 also comes with features like low latency mode, IPX5 water resistance, and fast charging.

Another major USP point of this device is that it didn't take much time to get fully charged and gave a continuous music playback for over six hours without any disturbance. The battery has also been boosted significantly on the Buds Wireless 2. The ultra-low-power Realme R2 chip and large battery capacity provide a massive 22hrs total battery life. The Realme Buds Wireless 2 comes with Dart Charge technology. You’ll be able to listen to music for up to 12 hours on just a 10-minute charge.  The only small disappointing part of this device was the ear tips, which took time to adjust.

Verdict: Realme Buds Wireless 2 is the most affordable neckband-style earphones with the premium features like ANC for just Rs 2,299. The neckband earphones have ticked several right boxes in the budget earphones category. The newly launched earphones might be a decent choice for the youngsters who are looking to buy earbuds at an affordable price range.
