In what was its first launch of the New Year, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Realme has launched its latest budget smartphone in India - Realme 5i. The smartphone, which was launched in Vietnam earlier this week, made its debut in India on Thursday afternoon. With Realme 5i, the company has introduced two new colour options for its customers - Forest Green and Aqua Blue. The highlights of the phone include Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor and a massive 5000 mAh battery. With this, the company will also stop selling Realme 5 in India. It claims to have sold 5.5 million units in this year, a large part of which was contributed from India. The line up now has three smartphones - Realme 5i, Realme 5 Pro and Realme 5s.

The Realme 5i price in India has been set at Rs 8,999 for the lone variant that comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage. In Vietnam, it was priced at VND 4,290,000, which works out to roughly Rs 13,500. The smartphone will go on sale for the first time on January 15 at 12 pm on Flipkart and Realme's own website. Realme has also announced a few launch offers in partnership with Cashify, Mobikwik and Reliance Jio.

Realme 5i specifications

Realme 5i features a 6.5-inch HD+ (720x1600 pixels) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It has a min-drop display notch and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 chipset. The storage on the phone can also be expanded using microSD card.

The smartphone comes with a quad cam setup that includes a 12-megapixel main camera (f/1.8 aperture), an 8-megapixel wide-angle camera (f/2.25 aperture, 118.9-degree lens), a 2-megapixel portrait camera for depth effects, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. On the front, the smartphone comes with an 8-megapixel camera.

Realme 5i smartphone packs a 5,000mAh battery coupled with a 10W charger bundled. The smartphone also supports reverse charging.
