We feel the time is right to let POCO operate on its own now, which is why we’re excited to announce that POCO will spin off as an independent brand. POCO was started as a sub-brand of Xiaomi in 2018 with a small team. The first smartphone under this brand - Poco F1 was extremely successful in India and remains to be a popular mid-range smartphone till date.

The split is very similar to what happened between Realme and Oppo a few years ago. Realme had separated from Oppo a few years ago and has been operating independently. The company has launched several products in different categories and is giving a tough competition to Xiaomi in India.
