Chinese technology company Oppo Electronics Corporation is all set to launch a new sub-brand for smartphones — Oppo Reno, said a GizmoChina report, adding that logo for the same has also been revealed. The new logo uses lively colours, giving hints that the sub-brand would focus on the youth segment. The smartphone manufacturer has also stated that the new brand's first smartphone will be launched in China on April 10, 2019, but there is no information related to this upcoming device.

Earlier, Oppo had revealed that the company will launch a new smartphone in April, but did not reveal the phone’s name. The report, however, said that the upcoming smartphone could be this Reno-branded smartphone, which is expected to flaunt a different design in comparison to previous Oppo phones.

Oppo’s Vice President Shen Yiren reportedly stated that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest and the most powerful processor— Snapdragon 855. The smartphone is also expected to sport Oppo’s 10x optical zoom technology, which the company showcased at Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain.

Shen Yiren has also confirmed that the new phone will be driven by a 4,065mAh battery, the report said, adding that he earlier did not confirm that the smartphone will have more than one million units in stock. 

Notably, Oppo has confirmed that the new device will go official next month, but suspense over phone’s name still remains. Rumours, however, suggest that the new smartphone could be Oppo Find Z, — the successor to Oppo Find X launched in 2018, the report added. 

Meanwhile, OPPO's Research and Development centre in India's Hyderabad is working on 5G solutions for its global market and India-specific mobile phone solutions and products. This was reported by a media report, citing Tasleem Arif, Vice president, head of R&D, OPPO Mobile India. 

Tasleem Arif was quoted as saying that the current headcount of the facility would be doubled from the existing 150 in the next two to three years, depending on the business.

Recently, OPPO set up and R&D centre in Hyderabad which is part of the USD 1.4 billion investment the company declared last year.
