Oppo Watch 2 Series: Good news, after successfully launching the first Oppo Watch last year, it seems like the Chinese smartphone brand Oppo is finally ready to launch its next smartwatch series called Oppo Watch 2 Series.

The brand took to Weibo to tease its Watch 2 series. The official teaser hints at longer battery life and an announcement scheduled for the second half of this year. According to the teaser, it will come in a square dial option, the same as the first generation Oppo Watch and a new circular dial version, the gsmarena reported.

The company has also confirmed that the upcoming smartwatch will use the Apollo 4s chip that will ensure power efficiency. The biggest update is that the upcoming Oppo Watch 2 Series will come with Snapdragon 4100 chipset.

The Chinese tech giant is all set to increase the storage capacity on its smartwatch, which could include a 16GB built-in storage option. Highly advanced Oppo Watch shipped with 8GB storage.

Software on an Oppo smartwatch spotted earlier revealed it would be running the msm8937_32go SoC, which is the codename for the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 processor.  This processor contains four ARM Cortex A53 processing cores with a clock speed of up to 1.7 GHz, as well as an Adreno 504 graphics accelerator. The alleged Oppo Watch 2 could debut in 42mm and 46mm dial sizes.

The Watch 2 series is expected to offer ColorOS for Watch based on Android Oreo 8.1 alongside a secondary real-time operating system (RTOS) for extended battery life. Oppo Watch 2 Series will arrive in the second half of 2021, which begins in July. 

The first-generation Oppo Watch was launched by the company in March last year in China. There’s a new Oppo Relax app as well as all-new watch faces and a reworked stress detection app. The tipster also mentions the possibility of an ECG version launching later on.
