The competition in the premium smartphone segment is increasing with each passing day and consumers are on the winning side. They have a new option now in the Oppo Reno series, which was launched in India on Tuesday, about two weeks after OnePlus 7 series made its global debut. As part of the new series, Oppo launched two smartphones - the Oppo Reno and the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, latter coming with more exciting features. The smartphones are the first in the new Reno series that was first announced in China last month. They will be available in two colours - Jet Black and Ocean Green.

Both the smartphones come with tout notchless displays, pop-up cameras and a premium glass design, among other features. The major difference between the two smartphones is in their processor. Also, the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom comes with a triple rear camera setup while the regular model gets a dual camera system. 

Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, Oppo Reno price, launch offers

The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom has been launched in India in two storage variants - the 6GB + 128GB variant which has been priced at Rs 39,990 and the  8GB + 256GB variant which would cost you Rs 49,999. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer has done well to keep the price less than the OnePlus 7 Pro, its main competitor in the Indian market. The Oppo Reno, on the other hand, comes in only variant - 8GB + 128GB - priced at Rs 32,990. 

Both the Reno series smartphones will go on sale through e-commerce platforms like Amazon India, Flipkart as well as through offline channels. The pre-orders for the series have started today and both the smartphones will go on sale for the first time in the country on June 7. 

As part of the launch offers, the customers will get 5 per cent instant discount on EMI with Axis Bank Credit and Debit card, 10 per cent instant discount on HDFC Credit and Debit EMI transactions, No Cost EMI up to 12 months and Flipkart Complete Mobile Protection at Rs 399.

Oppo Reno 10x Zoom, Oppo Reno features and specifications

The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom sports a 6.6-inch FHD+ (2340x1080) display and the regular Oppo Reno comes with a 6.4-inch FHD+ (2340x1080) screen. However, both the devices offer notchless displays and come with AMOLED panels and support an in-display fingerprint sensor. They maintain an impressive 93.1 per cent screen-to-body ration, thanks to the pop-up camera and are protected by Gorilla Glass 6. Both the smartphones have also been given a 3D Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the back. 

The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is powered by a powerful flagship Snapdragon 855 SoC with Adren 640 GPU while the regular model is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 710 chipset with Adren 616 GPU. The Oppo Reno series ship with Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6 on top. While the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is powered by 4,000mAh battery, the regular Reno gets a 3,765mAh battery. Both the smartphones support 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging.

One of the unique features of the smartphones is a shark fin-designed pop-up camera that is claimed to rise into position in only 0.8 seconds. It replaces a usual pop-up selfie camera on the phone. Both the Oppo Reno and Oppo Reno 10x Zoom come with a 16-megapixel f/2.0 selfie camera. 

At the back, the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom gets a 48MP f/1.7 primary camera, an 8MP f/2.2 ultra wide-angle camera and a 13MP f/3.0 telephoto camera. It supports 10x hybrid zoom and up to 60x digital zoom. The Reno comes with a dual rear camera setup that has a 48-megapixel f/1.7 Sony IMX586 sensor and a 5-megapixel f/2.4 secondary camera. 

The Oppo Reno 10x Zoom and Oppo Reno come with similar designs. They both offer notchless displays that vary subtly in size. The top-end Reno 10x Zoom model sports a 6.6-inch FHD+ (2340x1080) display, while the regular Reno gets a 6.4-inch FHD+ (2340x1080) sceen. Both the phones sport AMOLED panels and support an in-display fingerprint sensor. They also offer a screen-to-body ratio of 93.1 per cent and Gorilla Glass 6 protection. Additionally, they get a unique shark fin-designed pop-up camera that rises in 0.8 seconds.
