Chinese firm Oppo Electronics Corporation, referred to as Oppo, through its online-only brand called 'Realme' is focussing on smartphones for the youth. Moving ahead in that direction, the firm today unveiled Realme 2, which will be exclusively available on Flipkart from September 4 at 12pm.

The Realme 2 is being offered in two variants – 3GB RAM with 32GB storage for Rs 8,990, and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage at a price tag of Rs 10,990, said BGR report, adding that the new Realme phone will compete with Honor 7C, Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 and Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.

Buyers using HDFC bank credit and debit card will reportedly be able to avail flat Rs 750 cashback on buying the Realme 2. Reliance Jio users will also be able to avail benefits worth Rs 4,200. 

Earlier, Oppo launched its online-only brand Realme 1, which featured a front and back glass design, face unlock along with other features at a starting price of Rs 8,990. 

Launching the successor to the Realme 1, the company in its new smartphone has reportedly retained the design elements of its predecessor, while bringing some improvements.

Realme 2 reportedly comes with a notched display and giving an aspect ratio of 19:9, besides having a better chipset, dual rear cameras and a bigger battery to keep things ticking longer, said the BGR report.

According to the report, Realme 2 flaunts a 6.2-inch HD+ display that runs at a resolution of 720x1520pixels, and a pixel density of 271ppi. The display also comes with a notch on top, giving it an aspect ratio of 19:9. Under the hood is a 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 SoC with an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.8GHz. 

The chipset is reportedly paired with 3GB/4GB RAM and 32GB / 64GB storage options, besides a dedicated microSD card slot is also present for further expansion.

Realme 2 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo and ColorOS UI on top, said the report, adding that it also boasts of features like fingerprint sensor and face unlock.

For the photography, there is a dual-camera setup at the back, which includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor, and a secondary 2-megapixel depth sensor. The second sensor helps in adding DSLR-like bokeh effects to your photos. 

Notably, an 8-megapixel sensor for selfies and video calling is also added along with AI beauty mode and bokeh mode to capture selfies with depth-of-field effects.

The new Realme smartphone is reportedly armed with a 4,320mAh battery, along with options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G LTE with VoLTE connectivity, Bluetooth, GPS and a micro-USB port for data transfer and charging.
