OnePlus security breach: Data of about 3,000 Indian users was leaked in the latest security breach, said CERT-In, India’s cybersecurity agency on Tuesday. Even though CERT-In didn't give the exact numbers of users affected, it confirmed that it was less than 3,000. In an advisory issued to all OnePlus users in India, it claimed that less than 3K Indian customers were exposed in the recent security breach. The advisory further asks the OnePlus users in India to change their account passwords with a strong password.
This comes even after OnePlus had claimed on November 22 that password data was not accessed. The cybersecurity body added that users may receive spam and phishing emails as a result of this incident. It has even asked OnePlus users to stay vigilant against these attacks. At the same time, users have been asked not to open attachments and suggested not to click on a URL links contained in a spam email, even if the link seems agreeable. The severity of this breach was rated as “medium.”

Earlier this week, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer had disclosed that its website was hacked and data of several users was leaked. According to the company, an "unauthorised party" accessed customers' order information including names, contact numbers, emails, and shipping addresses. OnePlus had claimed that the intruder was stopped and the security was beefed up. It also sent emails to affected users and is currently working with the authorities to investigate the breach.
The OnePlus team had found out that some of its users' order information was accessed by an unauthorized party. It confirmed that all payment information, passwords and accounts are safe, but the name, contact numbers, email and shipping address in certain orders may have been exposed.
In January 2018, OnePlus faced a similar security breach and credit card details of about 40,000 customers were exposed. This time, the company hasn't revealed how many customers have been hit. It said that certain accounts were exposed.
