The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro have been in the news for a while, with several leaks suggesting their specs and features. In a tweet, the company confirmed that OnePlus 8 series will be unveiled during a global online launch event on April 14.

The company has already confirmed that it will bet big on 5G connectivity this year which means that both the new OnePlus smartphones could use Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. Apart from the 5G connectivity, OnePlus is also expected to introduce a new 120Hz OLED display. The OnePlus 8 series is also expected to bring several improvements to camera performance.

Leaks have also suggested that OnePlus 8 Pro could come with two 48MP camera sensors on the back. The phone is tipped to use a 48-megapixel Sony IMX689 sensor with an f/1.78 aperture, while the ultrawide will use a 48MP f/2.2 ultrawide lens with a Sony IMX586 camera sensor.

To recall, OnePlus had introduced the 90Hz Fluid AMOLED display last year and was the first to offers a QHD+ OLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate.

Further leaks suggest that the new OnePlus devices could be more expensive than last year’s smartphones. The OnePlus 8 is expected to start upwards of Rs 40,000 in India due to the more expensive Snapdragon 865 chip whereas the OnePlus 8 Pro will now compete with the likes of Samsung’s Galaxy S20 and Apple iPhone 11.
