OnePlus 7T vs Asus ROG Phone II: The last week of September turned out to be very exciting for smartphone lovers in India. The country had, not one but two smartphones with Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 855+ chipset launched -- Asus ROG Phone II and OnePlus 7T, both priced at Rs 37,999 for their base variants. The OnePlus 7T has been placed between OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro, emerging as an affordable flagship while ROG Phone II is an out and out gaming device, packed with powerful hardware and tank-like design. This is probably the first time when the gap between flagship smartphones and gaming devices has been reduced to this extent as both companies look to capture each other's market. As both the smartphones cost you the same, it is wise to compare them before making the purchase.

Both the smartphones score full marks when it comes to design but due to different reasons. The OnePlus 7T comes with a refreshing look, featuring a circular triple rear camera module, a waterdrop notch, slim bezels and glass back available in gradient hues. It changes colour as light falls from different angles. On the other hand, the Asus ROG Phone II is designed for gamers. It has all the ROG elements including RGB backlit ROG logo and looks truly premium. At the rear panel you get a single orange coloured heat vent that just adds to the beauty of this device.

OnePlus 7T vs Asus ROG Phone II: Display

Asus ROG Phone II is one of the first smartphones to offer a 120 Hz screen refresh rate which not only enhances your gaming experience but also comes handy in daily usage. It provides a really smooth experience and great color reproduction. Thanks to the Super AMOLED Display, it also comes with a fingerprint performance. The OnePlus 7T features a Fluid AMOLED Display with 90Hz refresh rate. It has a better peak brightness of 1000 nits which makes the smartphone work well even in bright daylight.

OnePlus 7T vs Asus ROG Phone II: Performance

Both the smartphones come with Snapdragon 855+ chipset and similar configuration - 8 GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage on the base variant. The top-end variant of OnePlus 7T comes with 256 GB of internal storage with same RAM configuration while Asus ROG Phone 2 has up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 3.0 internal storage. However, there is a massive difference in the pricing of higher end variants.

If we compare the performance of the base variants, Asus ROG Phone II excels when it comes to gaming. It offers a never-seen-before gaming experience which reaches another level with the front facing dual speakers that come with dtsX sound support. Asus ROG Phone 2 also has a better cooling system.

OnePlus 7T vs Asus ROG Phone II: Camera

There are hardly any devices in the Indian market that can compete with OnePlus smartphones when it comes to the camera. 7T sports a triple camera at the back with 48 MP main sensor, a 12 MP telephoto sensor and an ultrawide 16 MP lens. It allows you to click high quality images in different light conditions and settings. Meanwhile, ROG Phone II has just two cameras at the back with 48MP primary lens. Even though the camera is decent, it could have been better.

OnePlus 7T vs Asus ROG Phone II: Battery

Asus ROG Phone 2 is the only flagship in India to come with a 6000 mAh battery. This means there is no competition for it in the market right now. The battery lasts for 36 to 40 hours on medium usage and has support for reverse charging which means it can also be used as a power bank. It beats the OnePlus 7T hands down.

OnePlus 7T vs Asus ROG Phone II: Final Verdict

While the Asus ROG Phone II comes with a solid build and offers a bigger battery, it is heavy, thick and probably, not designed for everyone. However, it offers you a superior gaming experience and seamless multitasking. OnePlus 7T, on the other hand, is more of an all-rounder with a great camera and refreshing design. The smartphone is more compact and made for daily usage.
