Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director, Reliance Industries launched a new version of JioPhone that will support popular apps like Facebook, Youtube, and WhatsApp. There has long been the demand for these apps to roll out on JioPhone.

“YouTube, WhatsApp and Facebook services will be available to JioPhone users from August 15,” said Ambani at Reliance Industries AGM 2018.

Ambani also announced the launch of JioPhone Monsoon Hungama Offer, starting July 21, under which Reliance Jio users can exchange new upgraded JioPhone with old one at just Rs 501.

"Customers can exchange new upgraded Jio feature phone with old feature phone for Rs 501," Mukesh Ambani’s daughter Isha Ambani said at the AGM.

The upgrade of Jio feature phone will be called JioPhone 2, which will be available for Rs 2,999 starting August 15.

Both the JioPhone and JioPhone 2 will be available in the market going forward.

JioPhone 2, the second version of JioPhones will have a wider display and support for full QWERTY keyboard. The experience on JioPhone and JioPhone 2 is being powered by KaiOS operating system.

Mukesh Ambani expects to target 100 million users on JioPhone platform in shortest possible time.
