The iconic Nokia 3310, which was revamped and unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017 in February, is likely to hit the Indian market by June, according to a Deccan Chronicle report. Nokia which is owned by Finnish firm HMD Global has brought the brand back from the dead.

The Nokia 3310, which was one of the most successful phones of the company, was phased out over a decade ago by Nokia.

While it was expected that the Nokia 3310 would be in India by May, a report by Economic Times said that HMD Global is planning to launch the Nokia 3310 in India along with other Android-powered Nokia phones by the end of June.

The company is planning of re-building a strong offline presence in India and plans to rope in over 400 distributors who can reach out every nook and corner of India and set up 300 service centres.

Ajey Mehta, Vice President of HMD Mobile India said that depending on the scale of the business in India, it could set-up exclusive brand stores in the country.

The Nokia 3310 is a feature phone and relies on 2.5G connectivity and runs on S30+ operating system. It has a 2.4 inch display screen with colour and comes with the once popular 'Snake' game. It has a long battery life and HMD Global claims that it can deliver 22 hours of talk-time, which is 10 times more than the original. The new Nokia 3310 also sports a 2 megapixel rear camera.

While the Nokia 3310 was initially launched in Europe priced at 49 Euro (about Rs 4,000), the company plans to manufacture the phone in India which would bring the price in the country much lower. With most feature phones in India now priced below Rs 3,000, it is expected that the Nokia 3310 could be priced in the similar range to compete with others.
