The new rules issued by the telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) will be applicable from today i.e. December 16. Trai believes that the new guidelines will make it easier to change the telecom operator. After the implementation of the rules, the mobile number porting proc is expected to take 3-5 days instead of 15 days. However, the duration will remain the same for certain areas like Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and North-East service areas. Trai has said that under new rules, UPC will be generated only if a customer is eligible.
