If you're one of those looking to buy a budget air purifier that comes with good features, this review might help you. Recently we reviewed the Mi Air Purifier 3 from the global technology brand Xiaomi, which is available at Rs 9,999 in the Indian market, and here's what I have to say about this product. The Mi Air Purifier 3 comes with true HEPA Filter with a filtration efficiency of 99.97 per cent for particle size up to 0.3 microns. Its OLED touch Display shows real-time PM2.5 concentration, temperature and humidity, Wi-Fi connection and Working mode.

Let's start with the features. The Mi Air Purifier 3 sports a 360-degree cylindrical filter design, which allows it to suck in and purify air from all directions. Xiaomi also claims that Mi Air Purifier 3 is good for a coverage area of up to 484 sq feet. The air purifier features a touch-enabled OLED display that shows the AQI (Air Quality Index) in real-time. It can be connected to the Mi Home app allowing real-time AQI monitoring over the air.

The device features a triple-layer filtration which includes a primary filter, a true HEPA filter, and an activated carbon filter. The primary filter takes care of large particles in the air like the PM10 and above, the true HEPA, according to Xiaomi, can eliminate 99.97 percent of small pollutants like PM2.5, whereas the activated carbon filter rids the air of formaldehyde, toxic substances, and bad odor.

Setting up the air purifiers was very simple, the good thing was, it connected to the Mi Home app smoothly. The touchscreen on the front will show you the temperature, the mode at which it is running, the temperature, and the PM2.5 particle count. The device is exactly the same in terms of width, depth, and height, as its predecessor in terms of dimensions. The green ring on the front display means that the air quality in the room is good, orange means moderate and red means poor.

In terms of performance, if we talk about the bedroom, it was excellent. After 1o minutes of running the air purifier from Xiaomi with the AQI at 185, this brought it down to 70 according to the AQI screen on the purifier. The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3 has done a good job in a big single room managing to keep the levels to under 70 when the room is sealed shut. But it takes a good hour if you keep it in the hall, especially when air quality is already very bad.

Verdict: Priced at Rs 9,999, the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 3 has done a very good job, and also the air purifier is extremely lightweight so you can carry it anywhere. In terms of performance, I think this Mi Air Purifier 3 can be a good option for those looking to buy air purifiers in Rs 10,000 category.
