The beta versions of the two features will be available for both Android and iOS smartphones. While you could earlier share your location with friends through WhatsApp, the new update allows you to track the location of your friend live who you have shared it to. This option is shown to be working currently on the WhatsApp beta version 2.17.3.28 for iPhone and 2.16.399 for Android.

The new WhatsApp update will come with a new 'Show My Friends' option that makes your live location accessible to the specified audience for a few minutes or indefinitely, depending on what your preference is, according to a NDTV report.

The new beta update will also have a feature which notifies users when one of their friends changes their status message. Some of the other changes includes the push notifications feature and the ability to delete the status in 24 hours.

People will now be updated with regards to the joining or exiting of chats, calls and contact tabs. The report also says that Group chats will get many tweaks in the next few days.

Apart from this, there will also be a contact us option which will allow users to send feedback to WhatsApp developers directly. It will also add the ability to send a notification to a user when the person is running out of battery during a live call.
