The feature will come handy for people with greater following, allowing them to remove thousands of comments at one go. Earlier, the users had to delete each comment separately.

Those with iOS smartphones can enable the feature by tapping on a comment and then the dotted icon located in the top right corner. From there, select the Manage Comments option and choose up to 25 comments to delete simultaneously. You can block accounts in bulk by tapping on More Options.

Android users already had the ability to delete comments in bulk, but they can now also block or restrict accounts by holding down on a comment, tapping the dotted icon, and then selecting Block or Restrict.

Instagram will now also allow users to decide who tags or mentions them. In your Settings, you can choose to give permission to mention or tag you in a comment, caption, or on a Story to everyone, only people you follow, or no one at all. It also plans to test pinned comments where users will be able to select a specific number of their favorite comments and pin them to the top of their comments thread.

Facebook currently has a similar feature where pages can pin one post at the top. The new features by Instagram can make a difference in times where smartphone users have increased time spent on their device.
