The launch of Meta Verified was announced by Facebook-parent Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg. In order to get a verified account on Instagram and Facebook, one will have to pay at least $11.99 or Rs 991 a month.

Features of Meta's paid subscription

 

According to Zuckerberg, the new paid subscription will increase authenticity and security.

With the subscription service, users will get a blue badge, extra impersonation protection against accounts claiming to be you and direct access to customer support.

Apart from this, Meta Verified users will have increased visibility and reach. Meta will give verified users prominence in some areas of the platform like search, comments and recommendations.

According to the post, users will be able to verify their accounts with a government ID. So, any valid government ID is sufficient for it.

According to Meta, users will have to meet minimum activity requirements in order to be eligible for the paid subscription. Prior posting history and being at least 18 years old are some of them.

The users will have to apply directly from their account and they will be required to submit a government ID.

Meta has said that businesses are not eligible to apply for Meta Verified at this time.
