How to speed up a slow iPhone: If your Apple iPhone appears extremely slow, you need iOS 12, the upgrade all old Apple smartphone and iPad owners are raving about. It is now available as a public beta download, and the update is being described as "phenomenal" for older iPhone models, reported The Sun. While unveiling Apple iOS 12 at WWDC earlier this month, Apple's Craig Federighi said the company was "doubling down on performance" with the update – and promised speed boosts for devices going right back to the iPhone 5S, iPhone SE and iPhone 6.

The report, however, said the speed boost isn't just limited to older iPhones, but newer handset owners are also hailing its magic tricks. How did Apple improve performance with iOS 12? And how exactly has Apple managed to improve performance on old iPhones so dramatically?

Here's what you need to know about  how to speed up a slow iPhone:  .

- First, Apple has sped up the animations you see when navigating around your iPhone
- It makes the iPhone experience much smoother
- Apple has also changed the way that the processors in its phones work
- When you ask your iPhone to do something today, the processor ramps up to a peak to get the job done, then ramps back down
- Apple has shortened this ramp-up time so you get a processor power spike basically immediately, followed by a ramp-down
- This means your iPhone won't technically be loading things faster, but sooner.

According to The Sun report, what's most impressive about the speed boosts is that the iOS 12 update is still only in beta mode, which is a test version of the software. It simply means it's not finalised and could contain plenty of bugs. So, if you do go for update, be warned that it may affect your handset in unknown, perhaps even dangerous ways. As an alternative, you could upload this to a secondary device, if you have one and not on your primary phone. Still interested? If it is yes, since it will solve your problem of how to speed up a slow iPhone, here's how to download and install the update. If you do install it, make sure you follow the guide on how to back up your iPhone. That way if something goes wrong, you can restore all of your important photos and files very easily.
