Huawei's sub-brand Honor is set to launch a new smartphone in India on January 14, likely to be the Honor 9X. The launch was confirmed after the smartphone maker sent out media invites. The smartphone was also teased on e-commerce website Flipkart. The announcement comes weeks after Honor India President Charles Peng had confirmed that the company will launch its new smartphone and smartwatch in the first month of January.

Notably, the Honor 9X was launched in China along with the Honor 9X Pro on July this year. Even though the India invite shows 'X' in the background it doesn't specify whether one or both the smartphones will be launched on the mentioned date. The new smartphone will follow the Honor 8X in the Indian market.

Honor 9X price in India will be announced during the launch event but it is expected to target the sub-Rs 20,000 segment. In China, the Honor 9X price was set at CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs 14,400) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage option, the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model was priced at CNY 1,599 (roughly Rs 16,500) and the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant was priced at CNY 1,899 (roughly Rs 19,600).

Honor 9X features a 6.59-inch full-HD+ (1080x2340 pixels) display and is powered by octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 810 processor. It has a dual rear camera setup that includes includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front, it comes with a 16-megapixel pop-up selfie camera.

Honor 9X smartphone packs a 4,000mAh battery and includes a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
