COVID-19 Vaccination Latest Update: The COVID-19 vaccination drive is going on in the country. In order to register for the COVID-19 vaccination, one has to register through the CoWIN portal at cowin.gov.in. One can also register through the Aarogya Setu App. Then one has to schedule an appointment to get the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Now, those who are not much exposed to technology and especially people living in the rural areas are finding it difficult to book a slot for the COVID-19 vaccine through the CoWIN portal. But now, they have no reason to worry as the government has announced a new helpline number by means of which they will be able to book slots for the COVID-19 vaccination just by a phone call.

According to a BGR India report, to bring a relief to the citizens, especially, for the people living in the rural areas, the government has introduced a new helpline to enable registration and booking of COVID-19 vaccine slot by a phone call. National Health Authority (NHA) chief RS Sharma said that people will now be able to book the COVID-19 vaccine slot with the helpline number ‘1075.’ Sharma was also quoted saying by ANI, "all common service centers partnering with the government will now register/book slots for vaccination in rural areas.”

The process of registering for COVID-19 vaccination through phone call is simple. I order register and book a slot for COVID-19 vaccination, one has to dial the helpline number '1075'. After the call is placed, one will be asked whether one wishes to know details about CoWIN or one wishes to book a slot for COVID-19 vaccine. Following that , one has to press 2 for booking a slot for COVID-19 vaccine. After this, the call will be transferred to a representative. One is advised to keep one photo ID card for example, aadhaar card, PAN card, driving license, passport, pension passbook, voter card etc. The person is requested to follow the procedure as instructed by the representative. 

The COVID-19 vaccination drive on January 16, 2021, with two vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin. The second phase vaccination drive to inoculate people above 60 years of age and those above 45 years with comorbidities started from March 1, 2021. The third phase began from April 1, 2021, for all those above 45 years of age. In the next phase, that began from May 1, 2021, all above 18 years of age were included for the COVID-19 vaccination.

Apart from registering for COVID-19 vaccination by dialling '1075', one can register and schedule an appointment by logging in to the CoWIN portal at cowin.gov.in. One can also register through the Aarogya Setu App. Recently, a new set of guidelines has been issued by the government to CoWIN that are essentially aimed at allowing third parties to enable registration, scheduling, and management of vaccination through their apps.
