Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is one of the best-selling smartphones this year. The Xiaomi device running on Android Nougat-based on MIUI 9 will change soon as the Chinese technology company has stated that Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5 update will be rolled out for this Redmi Note 5 Pro in phases from June 29 onwards, said a TelecomTalk report, adding that most of the users may not receive this update in the first phase.

Xiaomi, however, did not reveal until when the OTA update process begins. But it may reportedly take close to a month for the entire Note 5 Pro user base to receive it.

Earlier, Xiaomi pushed the same MIUI 9.5 update based on Android 8.1 Oreo silently to users, but it was reportedly withdrawn as soon as the ROM started showing too many quirks. Now, it seems Xiaomi has got rid of bugs and is ready to roll out the update to the users.

According to the report, the update would be based on MIUI 9.5 and not MIUI 10. The features which are to be included in this update are not known so far, but it is expected to bring Project Treble support, dual 4G functionality and 4K video recording support.

Surprisingly, all the smartphones are coming with Android Oreo out of the box, but Xiaomi Note 5 Pro was released with Android Nougat.

Notably, Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro supports microSD card, and comes in two variants of 4GB RAM+64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage. When launched in March this year, the starting price for 4GB RAM variant was Rs 13,999, while 6GB RAM version was available at a price tag of Rs 16,999.
