Apple on Thursday made a major move to slash the prices of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus phones in India by Rs 22,000. The announcement came ahead of the iPhone 7 launch, which will come into in the Indian market by October 7.

The iPhone 6s Plus 128 GB is now priced at Rs 70,000, down from Rs 92,000 while the price of the iPhone 6s has dropped to Rs 60,000 from Rs 82,000 earlier.

Apart from this, the price of Apple’s iPhone SE has been reduced by Rs 5,000. It will now be priced at Rs 44,000 from the Rs 49,000 price tag earlier.

In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S7 is much cheaper despite the Rs 22,000 price cut. At launch, the Samsung Galaxy S7 was priced at Rs 49,000 but currently it has dropped to Rs 42,850 while the Galaxy S7 Edge, launched at Rs 56,900, is now available for Rs 44,200.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is currently priced at Rs 33,200, and Galaxy S6 Edge at Rs 37,950.

Many of the other high-end smartphones with the best of configurations also come at a much lower price than the discounted iPhone 6s Plus and iPhone 6s.

Take for instance the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, which comes with a 5.5 inch screen with Ultra HD 4K, 2Ghz Snapdragon 810 processor, 23 mega pixel rear camera and 5.0 mega pixel front camera and 3,430 mAh battery, is available for currently Rs 51,990 on Flipkart.

Similarly, the Nexus 6P is available at Rs 39,000 on Flipkart. It comes with 2GHz Snapdragon Octocore processor, 5.7 inch 2k AMOLED display, 3,450 mAh battery and fingerprint sensor.

The LG G5, which has a 4GB RAM, 2.1GHz Snapdragon 820 processor, 2800 mAh quick charge battery, LG’s 360-degree CAM, 5.3 inch 2k resolution display with corning gorilla glass 4 and finger print sensor, is currently priced at Rs 47,990.

The HTC 10 too, is priced lower than the discounted iPhone 6s, at Rs 45,480. The smartphone comes with a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon quadcore processor, 3,000 mAh quick charge battery, 5.2 inch display, 12 mega pixel rear camera and 4K recording.
