Signed under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) of the DoT, the agreement, titled "Automated Service Management in 5G and Beyond Networks Using AI," aims to foster domestic innovation in telecommunication product design, development, and commercialization for ensuring affordable broadband and mobile services in rural and remote areas.

The collaborative effort will establish a real-time 5G and Beyond testbed, compliant with O-RAN standards, to showcase automated network management and slicing techniques alongside specific application use-cases such as smart metering and remotely operated vehicles.

Dr. Sai Kiran, MPR, Associate Professor at IIT-Jodhpur, expressed excitement about the R&D grant received from the DoT, emphasizing its potential to drive advanced research initiatives aimed at revolutionizing network management and enhancing Quality of Service (QoS) in 5G and 6G telecom networks. "By harnessing cutting-edge AI technologies," he stated, "our team will lead the development of automated network management solutions, ensuring low-latency and high-reliability performance to facilitate the emergence of new application verticals in 5G and 6G, such as remotely operated vehicles and smart cities."

C-DOT and IIT-Jodhpur underscored that the successful completion of this project would unlock new use-cases in transportation systems and smart cities, positioning India as a significant contributor to future 6G telecom standards.
