While it may take a while before we see Indian brands competing in the smartphone category, they are taking impressive strides in other segments. Among the others is Boult Audio which on Tuesday launched its new pair of earbuds – Boult Audio AirBass Combuds, priced at Rs 1,499. The earbuds have been priced highly aggressively and positioned in a segment where you don’t have too many TWS.

The new headset comes with features like IPX5 rating, touch controls and improved battery life.  

The Combuds come with IPX5 water resistant feature to protect the buds from sweat and water while using. The model is equipped with 10mm neodymium drivers and high capacity lithium ion battery delivers 15 hours of high-quality playback time with a single charge.  

Combuds comes with inbuilt mic and touch controls to adjust the volume and change tracks. The earbuds flaunt an unusual oval shape against the popularly used in-ear and open fit styles. The company claims that it allows these earbuds to stay in ear.  

The earbuds will be available in two colors – White-Grey and Black Grey. It will be available exclusively on e-commerce platform Flipkart.  

TWS are getting increasingly popular in the Indian market with people working from home and increasing popularity of OTT platforms. 

The market posted 656 per cent (year-on-year) growth in the second quarter of this year, becoming one of the few segments which actually grew during the pandemic, a Counterpoint Research report said.  

boAt, a home-grown start-up, held the fourth position in the India TWS Market in Q2 2020. pTron, another local brand which was launched in 2015 in consumer electronics and mobile accessories including TWS, held the fifth position in the India TWS market in Q2 2020.
