In a bid to regain its lost place in the hearts and minds of the pubic globally, BlackBerry has come out with a new smartphone BlackBerry KEY2, which is stated to be the successor BlackBerry KEYone, which was launched last year, with improvements in design and hardware. The new BlackBerry device, however, contains most of the features of KEYone, but has its keyboard is 20% larger when compared to the earlier phone, said a TelecomTalk report, adding that BlackBerry is rumoured to be working on two smartphones for Indian market, namely BlackBerry Ghost and Ghost Pro.
 
BlackBerry is stated to have said that the new keyboard is more responsive and clickier, while other specifications are also decent. The report, however, said that BlackBerry KEY2 fails to offer the same value if compared with OnePlus 6. 
 
The BlackBerry KEY2, which will see its India launch later, will reportedly be available at $649 (approx. Rs 43,200). The report also expects it to be priced at Rs 39,999, like that of KEYone. 
 
Among other features, KEY2 reportedly retains the same 4.5-inch display with 3:2 aspect ratio and 1080 x 1620 pixels resolution, and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform. Coming with 6GB of RAM, the new BlackBerry phone would be available in two storage options of 64GB and 128GB. Both the variants will feature 6GB of RAM storage which can be expanded up to 2TB with a microSD card, the report said, adding that phone measures 8.5mm in thickness and weighs 168 grams.
 
For the first time, the Canadian technology company has used dual camera setup on a smartphone. The KEY2 boasts of two 12MP sensors on the back; primary 12MP sensor has a f/1.8 aperture, laser autofocus and PDAF, while the second sensor has a telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture, said the report, adding that rear camera is capable of shooting 4K videos at 30fps and 1080p videos at 60fps. Besides, an 8MP front-facing shooter on the new device also flaunts a selfie flash.

Like KEYone, the new smartphone also has the same battery size at 3500mAh with Quick Charge 3.0 support. The phone has fingerprint scanner on the space bar, but reportedly lacks water resistance properties. BlackBerry KEY2 has security features and sports DTEK security suite, FIPS 140-2 Full Disk Encryption, besides having connectivity options like 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and GLONASS, the report added.
