In a major development, WhatsApp has begun terminating its support for the older versions of smartphones for Android and iOS both. Whatsapp had already announced about this move. WhatsApp is doing this for security and privacy purpose. Hence, if you are still using smartphones with older versions, WhatsApp will stop working completely on your phone.

KNOW ON WHICH VERSIONS WHATSAPP WILL STOP WORKING

After ending its support for Windows Phone devices from 1st January, Whatsapp has mentioned on its official blog post that Whatsapp will not support the old devices in iPhones running on iOS 8 and below after January 31 and will also not support the Android phones running on version 2.3.7 and older ones from February 1.

The company's support page stated that WhatsApp will stop working on iOS devices running iOS 8 or earlier after February 1, 2020. “For Android versions 2.3.7 and older, you can no longer create new accounts, nor reverify existing accounts. However, you’ll be able to continue using WhatsApp until February 1, 2020,” the messaging firm said.

WhatsApp ended service for: BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10, Nokia S40, Nokia Symbian S60, Android 2.1 and Android 2.2, Windows Phone 7, and iPhone 3GS/iOS.
