As the name suggests, Asus ROG 3 will be the third smartphone in the series, succeeding last year’s Asus ROG Phone II. Interestingly though, this is the time when the company used to launch its new ‘Zen’ or ‘Z’ series smartphones but has made a slight change in its strategy.

“ROG Phone Fans. Great News! #ROGPhone3 will launch globally and in India on 22nd July 2020! India is among the first wave countries,” Asus India’s Mobile Business Head, Dinesh Sharma tweeted.

Asus has also confirmed that the new smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 865 Plus. This makes the ROG Phone III the first smartphone to come with the new chipset, making it the most powerful smartphone till date.

While other details have not been confirmed by the company, the phone recently appeared on TENAA, giving a hint about the specs. The smartphone will sport a 6.9-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels and a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It will also be the first to offer 144Hz screen refresh rate.

The phone will come with 8GB, 12GB and 16GB of RAM along with 128GB, 256GB and 512GB internal storage. The device will run Google's Android 10 operating system with the company’s own ROG UI on top.

Of course, the phone is likely to pack a 6,000mAh battery with support for 30W fast charging. It will have a triple camera setup on the back, consisting of a 64MP primary sensor. On the front, it will reportedly feature a 14MP sensor for taking selfies.
