Alcatel 1 smartphone may well be all set for launch. Alcatel has previously launched several smartphones earlier this year in the World Mobile Congress. and now a new leak reveals that the company is planning to launch the cheapest smartphone based on Android Oreo. Till date, Alcatel 1X had been the lower tier device in its portfolio.

Although, no specifications or the price range of Alcatel 1 has been disclosed until now, but speculation is that the smartphone would be priced lower than the €100 tag of Alcatel 1X. According to a report in bgr.in, Alcatel is known for selling low-tier devices in Europe and US market and with Alcatel 1, the company is further penetrating that segment.

Alcatel 1 may feature a 5-inch display with a resolution of 960 x 480 pixels and support for taller 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is powered with  a MediaTek MT6739 SoC, which has a quad-core Cortex A53 CPU clocked at 1.3GHz. The storage options available is 1GB of RAM and 8GB expandable storage, which is standard for an Android Go edition device. Alcatel 1X sports a  5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie camera.

The smartphone runs on Android Oreo (Go Edition), a customized version of Android. This version of Android helps users to simplify user experience on low-end devices. The apps optimized for lower-end processors like Google Go, Google Assistant Go, YouTube Go, Gmail Go among others. The Play Store has also been customized to offer Go optimized apps directly to consumers, reports bgr.in.

In the connectivity options available for this phone are Cat 4 LTE with downlink support for 150Mbps and uplink of 50Mbps. It also supports WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and dual-SIM functionality.  It has a 137.6 x 65.7 x 9.8mm in dimensions and weighs around 134 grams. The smartphone is likely to be available in gold, blue and black colors.
