With a strong anti-China sentiment building among customers, forgotten Indian smartphone brands are eyeing a comeback in the market. Last week, Micromax had hinted at a grand comeback and now Lava is apparently planning something similar. A new Lava smartphone, called Lava Z66, has been spotted on benchmark website Geekbench hinting at a potential launch in the days to come.

For those unaware, smartphones are listed on benchmarking sites before being launched in the market. The company, however, is yet to officially announce the device. However, the Geekbench listing has revealed some key specifications of the Lava Z66.

The smartphone is spotted with the Unisoc processor with the model number sp9863a 3c10. The exact details of this processor are not known but it is expected to be entry-level chipset. The Geekbench listing also reveals that the Lava Z66 packs 3GB of RAM.

The company had been virtually muscled out of the Indian market with the emergence of Chinese smartphone makers over the years. Its last phone in India was the Lava Z53, an entry-level Android Go phone, which was launched in February. Following the clashes between Indian and Chinese soldiers at LAC, there has been a demand for homegrown products which Lava and Micromax, among others plan to take advantage of.

Last week, Micromax had hinted at a new launch on its social media channel. Micromax had launched its iOne Note as its last smartphone in the country in October and has been listed online with a price tag of Rs 8,199. Replying to a Twitter user, the company said that it is working on something big and an announcement will come sometime soon.

“Hi, Hitesh. Glad to see your support for #VocalForLocal. We are working hard internally and soon we will come up with something big. Stay tuned! #Micromax #MadeByIndian #MadeForIndian,” the tweet said.
