Xiaomi 12 series launch: After successfully launching its 11 series earlier this year, the Chinese tech giant Xiaomi on Tuesday announced that it will launch Xiaomi 12 series -- Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and 12 Pro in China on December 28. Xiaomi previously announced the flagship device to have the brand-new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 premium SoC onboard.

Zhiyuan Zang, Deputy GM of Xiaomi Marketing, took to micro-blogging platform Twitter and shared the teaser image of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 series and wrote "Two Flagships". Agatha Tang, Product PR, Xiaomi Global, also shared an image from her Twitter account and wrote: "Xiaomi 12 domestic launch happening on Dec 28th, 7:30 pm BJ time (GMT+8).

According to a report from BGR India, the vanilla model Xiaomi 12 is tipped to feature a 6.2-inch curved display with a centre punch-hole to accommodate the front camera. The Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro are said to get AMOLED panels with a 120Hz refresh rate.

The base model could pack a 4,500mAh battery with 67W fast charging support, and include wireless charging as well.  As per the Xiaomi 12X, it is expected to have a compact design and equip the Snapdragon 800 series platform- Snapdragon 870 SoC. It may feature a 6.28-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate.

Also, Lei Jun, founder of the global smartphone brand Xiaomi, recently announced that the company will release its next major version of MIUI, dubbed MIUI 13 before the end of this year. Jun also revealed that the MIUI 13 will bring lots of changes that will greatly improve the user experience.

The new user interface will bring in multiple performances and battery optimizations along with a revamped design. The update was earlier planned for the Mi MIX 4 release. However, the developers needed more time to improve the software. Lei Jun also noted that the recently announced MIUI 12.5’s battery optimizations are contributing to the Redmi Note 11 Pro battery life, the company said.
