This Apple iPhone model to be discontinued?

Apple September launch event: The US-based tech giant Apple is ready to host its Far Out event next week where it will launch at least four new iPhone 14 models. Ahead of the iPhone 14 launch event, several reports have suggested that Apple might not bring the iPhone Mini model this time. Apple may instead unveil a new "iPhone 14 Max or iPhone 14 Plus", along with regular models.

Earlier, Apple brought two Mini variants - iPhone 12 Mini in 2020 and iPhone 13 Mini 2021. But this time, the Cupertino-based company may launch 6.7-inch model iPhone 14 Max instead of 5.4-inch iPhone 14 Mini. According to IANS report, Apple has likely discontinued the 5.4-inch iPhone mini this year.

Apple last used Plus name for the iPhone 8 Plus in 2017. Since then, Apple has used Max branding for its largest-sized iPhones, including the iPhone XS Max, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. "Argument can still be made in favor of the iPhone 14 Max name, as Apple selling an iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max alongside an iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max would certainly provide some consistency," the MacRumors reported.

The lineup, this year, may consist of a 6.1-inch iPhone 14, 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Plus, 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. Recent reports said that while the A16 Bionic chipset will power the Pro models, the non-Pro models will retain the A15 chip. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will combine a circular hole-punch cutout and a pill-shaped cutout for their camera setup and Face ID functionality.

Called 'Far Out', the September 7 event will showcase the new iPhone 14 lineup, Watches, and other products. This will be an in-person event at Apple's Cupertino campus in the US, the company's first big event to take place since the two years of the pandemic. Apple is also streaming the launch event online on all its social media platforms and website including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. The Apple Far Out event in India will start from 10:30 PM IST.

Apple iPhone 14 is likely to be priced below Rs 80,000 in India for the basic variant. MacRumors report said that Apple iPhone 14 Pro will be $1,099 (around Rs 87,838.12) whereas the iPhone 14 Pro Max will cost $1,199 (around Rs 95,830.67). However, the price of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will rise to $1099 and $1199, respectively, due to increased component costs and Apple's drive to separate Pro and non-Pro iPhones. The iPhone 14 Series will be made available for pre-booking from September 9. At the same time, the sale of this series will start on September 16, the report added.
