If reports are to go by, Redmi Note 12 series will be launched in India February. However, Anuj did not confirm the exact launch date and timeline but added that the date would be announced soon. Talking about the legacy and journey of Redmi Note series, Anuj Sharma said that Redmi Note series has been the most successful series from the house of Xiaomi. There is no doubt that with consistent technological innovations and advanced capabilities, Redmi Note series has become the de facto standard of smartphones in its segment.

On Redmi Note Series' popularity, Sharma said Xiaomi focused on two key mantras - providing the latest technology and making it affordable to the masses. "In the last eight years, Redmi has shipped more than 72.4 million Note series smartphones in India and 300 million Redmi Note units shipped globally," Anuj told Zee Business.

"Going forward, Redmi Note series will be evolving to focus more on the mid-premium segment," he added.

Also, Sumit Sonal - General Manager Marketing - Xiaomi Technology, told Zee Business: Note 11 smartphone was the highest shipped AMOLED smartphone and Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 11SE, helped Redmi feature as the most favorite AMOLED smartphone brand under Rs 17,000. He mentioned the data from the H1 2022 report by CounterPoint Monthly tracker - June 2022.

With 5G services now live in India, Xiaomi India Chief Marketing Officer said the company will focus on 5G phones in the next Note Series.

"The 4G-5G divide has gone, so we will focus on 5G only." Sharma said.

He mentioned that giving the best technology and best overall experience will be 'our challenge' in 2023. "After 5g roll out in India, we are focused and the next Note series smartphones in India will be 5G. "We want the latest technology for consumers in the upcoming Redmi Note phones," Xiaomi CMO added.

A key challenge, as per Sharma, remains is the pricing between 4G and 5G smartphones and the latter is still going to cost $50-$60 more over an equivalent 4G device.

"I don't think we will still see a really good 5G phone that you can buy under Rs 10,000. I think that it will take time. Mostly smartphones sold under Rs 20K are 5G. Also a large part of 15-20K segment have started moving to 5G. "We have started seeing almost about 30-35 percent of 10-15K segment also moving to 5G," Sharma said.

Redmi India also working on its "Phone Plus Strategy". Sharma told Zee Business: "We are working on improving our products - especially buds and smartwatches. We are getting good response from consumers. Redmi TVs, Pad and laptops also receiving positive feedbacks as well. Also, audio and wearables will be in focus next year."
