The device comes in three colors -- Mercury Silver, Asteroid Black and Milky Way. I have used the Realme X7 Max 5G 12GB+256GB storage variant in Asteroid Black color for more than two weeks.

5G

Also, the Realme X7 Max 5G includes a variety of 5G features which includes multiple bands, dual standby and standalone mode on both SIMs, and 5G carrier aggregation.

HIGHLIGHT

The major highlight of the Realme X7 Max 5G is, that the smartphone enhances your multimedia experience, especially with gaming and video streaming. Those who are looking to buy a stylish yet powerful smartphone can easily fall in love with it.

DESIGN

In terms of design, the newly launched Realme X7 Max 5G is slim and lightweight despite being a 5G smartphone, it measures 158.5×73.3×8.4mm and weighs 179 grams. The phone looks quite a premium one. As I mentioned earlier, the device is not heavy, so it is easy to hold and one can keep it in hands for a longer period. The grip of the device is good and you will get comfortable easily while using it too. Also, the body is IPX4 rated for splash resistance.

On the rear side of the device, you can easily see a triple-camera setup, Realme branding with the huge ‘Dare to Leap' slogan. The back area looks decent and the good part it didn't pick up fingerprint smudges. Also, the company is providing one free decent transparent cover, so you don't have to worry about the cover. In terms of overall design and looks, the Realme X7 Max 5G didn't disappoint us.

On the right edge of the device, the Realme X7 Max 5G houses the power button and on the left side, there's a dedicated space for a Dual Nano Card Slot and the volume keys. At the bottom, the device features Type-C USB charging port, Dolby Atmos Dual Stereo speakers, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The Dolby Atmos performed extremely well during the review period. Overall, the speaker did a good job here.

CONNECTIVITY and SENSORS

The connectivity options on the Realme X7 Max 5G include Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/Yes, GPS, Bluetooth v5.10, 3G, 4G, SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, LDAC Bluetooth audio codec and NFC. The sensors include a Magnetic induction sensor, Light sensor, Proximity Sensor, Gyrometer, and Acceleration sensor.

CAMERA

In terms of camera performance, this Realme X7 Max 5G comes with a 64-MP Sony IMX682 sensor accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro camera. The device offers many in-built features including 64MP Mode, Super Night Mode, Panoramic view, Expert, Timelapse, Portrait Mode, HDRUltra wide, Ultra macro, AI Scene Recognition, AI Beauty, Filter, PF mode, Super text, Face Distortion Correction, Passport photo and more.

While reviewing the Asteroid Black variant, we used every single mode to check the camera performance and we found that 64MP Mode, Super Night Mode, Portrait Mode produced very sharp and detailed pictures in various light conditions. The images we captured were colorful and bright. While taking multiple shots with different modes, the Realme X7 Max 5G didn't hang. However, if we compare the images captured with Realme X7 Max 5G in low light conditions in normal settings with the Xiaomi Mi 11x 5G, which carries the same price tag, the Realme device has given the tough competition here. The videos also came out good on this device.

BIG USP

Let's talk about one of the major USP of the Realme X7 Max 5G. And we think the display of this newly launched phone from Realme is excellent and extremely fast. The Realme X7 Max 5G  comes with a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED Fullscreen display with 2400x1080 FHD+ resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate.

Compared with the 120Hz touch sampling rate, the Realme X7 Max 5G has an automatic sampling rate adaptation function, which greatly balances power consumption and performance. In the game mode, it reaches a 360Hz sampling rate, and the touch is more user-friendly, and the response is quicker.

There's a punch-hole camera in the top left corner of the display with an In-display fingerprint sensor and face recognition which worked pretty smoothly and lag-free during the review period. The overall experience while using the screen was amazing. Also, the colors came out good on the screen in the direct sunlight.

On the front, the Realme X7 Max 5G houses a 16MP selfie camera with an f/2.5 aperture. While taking images and recording videos from the selfie camera, the device captured good images in daylight conditions but lacked sharpness in low lights.

OVERALL PERFORMANCE

In terms of performance, Realme X7 Max 5G is the first smartphone in India to come with MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G chipset, which provides improved overall performance at increased energy efficiency. Not only is the processor more powerful, but it’s more efficient as well. Also, Dimensity 1200 features integrated 5G baseband for lower latency, improved power efficiency, and enhanced temperature control.  This makes the smartphone gaming experience smooth and lag-free.

The Realme X7 Max 5G runs on Realme UI 2.0 based on Android 11 out of the box. The good thing is the UI is very easy to use and users might not face any issues. While playing games like Garena Free Frie, Asphalt 9: Legends, Call of Duty: Mobile, and other light gamers, we experienced lag-free gaming. The graphic quality was good in both normal and basic settings. Overall, the Realme X7 Max 5G was fast, smooth, switching between the apps like social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Instagram, was easy and the performance was flawless.

BATTERY

In terms of battery performance, this newly launched Realme smartphone is backed by a 4500mAh battery with a 50W SuperDart Charger. Once fully charged, the phone lasted for over a day one during the normal to heavy usage. The good part was that the device did not heat up during gaming and video streaming for long hours. However, the battery drained quickly.

FINAL VERDICT

Available at a starting price of Rs 26,999, Realme X7 Max 5G is a decent gaming smartphone with top-end features. This smartphone is competing with popular smartphones like Oppo F19 Pro Plus 5g, OnePlus Nord CE 5G, Xiaomi Mi 11x, Samsung Galaxy A 52, and more. For those who are looking for a fast gaming smartphone with decent cameras and design under Rs 30,000, the X7 Max 5G from Realme might meet your requirements.
