We are in the third month of 2021 and it has been a good year for the Chinese handset maker Oppo so far. After successfully launching its flagship smartphone Oppo Reno5 5G series in India in January, the smartphone manufacturer recently unveiled the Oppo F19 Pro series here. With an aim to gain more consumers in India in the mid-premium market segment, the company launched Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G and Oppo F19 Pro.

Both Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G and Oppo F19 Pro have come equipped with quad rear cameras and feature Super AMOLED displays. I have used the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G variant for more than one week. Let's see how it fared. The Oppo F19 Pro+ price starts at Rs 25,990 for the sole (8GB RAM + 128GB) storage variant and comes in Fluid Black and Space Silver colour options. I reviewed the Fluid Black color variant.

I want to start with the X-factors of this device. The phone is extremely lightweight, it measures 160.1×73.4×7.8mm and weighs 173 grams, beautiful premium design, amazing display and the device didn't lag even after using multiple apps at the same time.

The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G looks good in hand, it will indeed give you a premium kind of feelings. As I said, the phone is not bulky, so it is easy to carry and one can keep it in hands for long hours. The phone offers a good grip, and you will feel comfortable while using it too.

In terms of design, when we look at the backside, you can easily see quad-camera setup, 5G and Oppo branding. The back looks pretty but, it will pick up fingerprints. The good thing is the company has provided one free decent transparent cover with it so you don't have to worry too much on that score. Overall, when it comes to design and looks, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G has ticked most of the right boxes.

If we compare Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G with Realme X3 and Vivo V20 Pro which also comes in a similar price range, I think this smartphone might meet the demands of consumers in India. Youngsters nowadays look for good camera smartphones for various reasons and the Oppo phone won't disappoint them. On the rear side of the device, it houses a quad rear camera setup that carries a 48MP primary sensor with an f/1.7 lens, 8MP wide-angle macro shooter, 2MP portrait sensor, and a 2MP macro shooter along with LED Flash and 5G brand.

The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G cameras include top-end features like Dual-video mode -- which worked perfectly fine, and I personally liked it, Slo-mo, Time-Lapse, PRO expert, Extra HD, Pano, Marco, Portrait, Night mode among others. I used each of them while reviewing the device. For those who are into professional photography or loves clicking pictures, this device might be the one you're looking for in the 25K segment. The pictures came out colourful, well detailed in both Portrait and Night mode.

Equipped with features like Slo-mo, Time-Lapse and more, the videos I shot came out well. The device did manage to capture good videos even in low light conditions. While recording videos, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G did a decent job and delivered clear shake-free videos.

While on the right side, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G has a power button, the left side houses the SIM card tray and the volume rockers. At the bottom edge, there's a dedicated space for a USB Type-C charging port, 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone and speaker grill. The speaker performance was not up to the mark, especially in crowded places like the metro and markets. The connectivity options on the Oppo F19 Pro+ include Bluetooth 5.1, LDAC, 4G/5G LTE, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Display, GPS/ A-GPS and more.

As I mentioned in the beginning, the display of this recently launched Oppo F19 Pro+ is simply amazing, bright, the colours came out pretty well on the screen. The device features a 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1,080x2,400 pixels) Super AMOLED display with a 20:9 aspect ratio and 60Hz refresh rate.

On the front, the smartphone features a 16MP camera sensor for video calls and selfies. It also includes an in-display fingerprint senor and face-unlock feature, I check both and it didn't lag. The selfie camera wasn't as good as rear cameras in low light conditions, the selfies I took in low ligts lacked detailing. Overall perfromance of the front camera was good.

The Oppo F19 Pro+ is packed with a 4,310mAh battery that supports 50W Flash Charge fast charging. One of the reasons why this smartphone is light. While other smartphone brands are offering massive 5000 mAh batteries these days, this Oppo phone is coming with less than 5,000 mAh battery. On heavy usage, the smartphone lasted for a day only on a single charge. Even after watching videos on YouTube, web series and movies on Netflix, Disney+Hotstar, Amazon Prime and other platforms for long hours, the device didn't heat up.

Oppo F19 Pro+ runs on the Android 11 + ColorOS 11.1 and has the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 800U SoC, which will make take gaming experience to next level. I played high-end games, including FAU-G, on this smartphone. The phone worked fast, didn't heat up and it was a lag-free experience. The graphics were also good. Overall, the Oppo F19 Pro+ is a good gaming smartphone. Basic task on Oppo F19 Pro+ like switching between apps, using social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter, Tinder, Instagram, Gmail worked smoothly. The overall experience was fast and effortless.

Oppo F19 Pro+ verdict: Priced at Rs 25,990, this newly launched Oppo phone has justified its pricing. From design, display to gaming and overall performance, this smartphone has done a pretty decent job. The smartphone will bring tough competition to popular smartphones like OnePlus Nord, Realme X3,  Vivo V20 Pro and more. For those who're looking for a good camera smartphone with beautiful looks, this device might meet your demands.
